Description | Granddaddy Purple is one of the most popular indica cultivars on the west coast of North America and is perhaps the most well known 'purple' cannabis strain in the United States. Granddaddy Purple was obtained in 2003 by Ken Estes in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is a cross of the two strains Purple Urkle and Big Bud. Grand Daddy Purple combines the two best qualities of its parents, the deep and dark purple hue from Purple Urkle and the overgrown, dense buds of Big Bud. The dark purple buds are blend with bright orange and frosted white trichomes that cover the bud making it a photogenic cultivar. Granddaddy Purple is well suited for night time use. Its effects strike both the body and mind initially but fade quickly into a feeling of body relaxation like most heavy indicas. Granddaddy Purple is recommended for pain management. It has also been found to be effective for insomnia, depression and anxiety. Granddaddy Purple grows best indoors but can be grown outside as well. Flowering begins after 70-77 days when grown indoors and growers can expect to harvest in early October when grown outdoors. The oversized buds may begin to weigh down the plant, especially if grown outdoors. When grown indoors the plant should be short and stocky enough to hold the weight but it might require some additional support around the 60-day mark. Yields can top 115 grams per plant on an indoor grow and well over 1.3 kilograms per plant on an outdoor grow. Temperature and humidity should range within the 20°C and 50-55% range throughout the grow cycle for optimal results. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
