Cannabis Compound Identification
Common Name2,3,4-Trimethyl-6-propylpyridine
Description2,3,4-Trimethyl-6-propylpyridine, belong to the class of organic compounds known as methylpyridines. These are organic compounds containing a pyridine ring substituted at one or more positions by a methyl group. Pyridine is a six-member aromatic heterocycle which consists of one nitrogen atom and five carbon atoms. 2,3,4-Trimethyl-6-propylpyridine is an alkylated derivative of pyridine. Pyridine is a highly flammable, weakly alkaline, water-miscible liquid with a distinctive, unpleasant fish-like smell. While pyridine is colorless, older or impure samples can appear yellow. 2,3,4-Trimethyl-6-propylpyridine is formed during the combustion of cannabis and is therefore a constituent of cannabis smoke ( Ref:DOI ).
