Description1-Ethyl-4-methylimidazole or 1H-Imidazole, 1-ethyl-4-methyl- belongs to the class of organic compounds known as n-substituted imidazoles. These are heterocyclic compounds containing an imidazole ring substituted at position 1. Imidazole is a five-member aromatic heterocycle which consists of two nitrogen atom and three carbon atoms. 1-Ethyl-4-methylimidazole is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa).1-Ethyl-4-methylimidazole is formed during the combustion of cannabis and is therefore a constituent of cannabis smoke ( Ref:DOI ).
