Cannabis Compound Identification
Common Name2,3-Styrenediol
Description3-Vinylbenzene-1,2-diol also known as 3-Vinylcatechol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as catechols. Catechols are compounds containing a 1,2-benzenediol moiety. 3-Vinylcatechol is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). 3-Vinylbenzene-1,2-diol may be a unique E. coli metabolite. 3-Vinylbenzene-1,2-diol is formed during the combustion of cannabis and is therefore a constituent of cannabis smoke ( Ref:DOI ).
