Description2-Ethylbenzimidazole belongs to the class of organic compounds known as benzimidazoles. These are organic compounds containing a benzene ring fused to an imidazole ring (five member ring containing a nitrogen atom, 4 carbon atoms, and two double bonds). 2-Ethylbenzimidazole is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa). 2-Ethylbenzimidazole is formed during the combustion of cannabis and is therefore a constituent of cannabis smoke ( Ref:DOI ).
