These are ketones have the generic structure RC(=O)R', where R = aryl group and R'=alkyl group. 5-Acetyl-2-methylpyridine is a strongly basic compound (based on its pKa). 5-Acetyl-2-methylpyridine is formed during the combustion of cannabis and is therefore a constituent of cannabis smoke ( Ref:DOI ).
