Description1-Propyl-7-azaindole, also known as 1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine, 1-propyl- , belongs to the class of organic compounds known as pyrrolopyridines. Pyrrolopyridines are compounds containing a pyrrolopyridine moiety, which consists of a pyrrole ring fused to a pyridine. Pyrrole is a 5-membered ring consisting of four carbon atoms and one nitrogen atom. Pyridine is a 6-membered ring consisting of five carbon atoms and one nitrogen center. Pyrrolopyridines are colorless and almost odorless compounds.1-propyl-7-azaindole is a strongly basic compound. 1-Propyl-7-azaindole is one of several structural isomers of propyl-7-azaindole which is substituted by one propyl group at different positions. 1-Propyl-7-azaindole is one of pyrrolopyridine compounds found in marijuana smoke ( Ref:DOI ). 1-Propyl-7-azaindole is formed during the combustion of cannabis.
