Cannabis Compound Identification
Common Namemethylaminomethylpyrazine
DescriptionMethylaminomethylpyrazine or N-methyl-1-(pyrazin-2-yl)methanamine, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as aralkylamines. These are alkylamines in which the alkyl group is substituted at one carbon atom by an aromatic hydrocarbyl group. Methylaminomethylpyrazine is also classified as a pyrazine derivative. Methylaminomethylpyrazine is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa). Methylaminomethylpyrazine is formed during the combustion of cannabis and is therefore a constituent of cannabis smoke ( Ref:DOI ).
