Description2,5-Divinylpyridine also known as 2,5-Diethenylpyridine, belongs to the class of organic compound known as pyridines and derivatives. These are compounds containing a pyridine ring, which is a six-member aromatic heterocycle which consists of one nitrogen atom and five carbon atoms. 2,5-Divinylpyridine is one of several divinylpyridine isomers wherein the vinyl groups are located at different positions around the pyridine ring. 2,5-Divinylpyridine is a strongly basic compound (based on it's pKa). 2,5-Divinylpyridine is formed during the combustion of cannabis and is therefore a constituent of cannabis smoke ( Ref:DOI ).
