It belongs to the class of organic compounds known as N-substituted imidazoles. These are heterocyclic compounds containing an imidazole ring substituted at position 1. Imidazole is a white or colourless solid that is soluble in water. 1H-Imidazole, 2-methyl-1-propyl is a strong basic compound. 1-propyl-2-methyl imidazole is formed during the combustion of cannabis and is therefore a constituent of cannabis smoke ( Ref:DOI ). |
