Description2-Butylpyridine belongs to the class of organic compounds known as pyridines and derivatives and is a butylated derivative of pyridine. Pyridines and derivatives are compounds containing a pyridine ring, which is a six-member aromatic heterocycle which consists of one nitrogen atom and five carbon atoms. 2-Butylpyridine is a very strong basic compound and is a pale yellow clear liquid that is insoluble in water and soluble in alcohol. It is found in beef fat, lamb fat and fried chicken ( Ref:DOI ). 2-Butylpyridine is formed during the combustion of cannabis and is therefore a constituent of cannabis smoke ( Ref:DOI ).
