Cannabis Compound Identification
Common Name5-Methylpyrimidine
Description5-Methylpyrimidine is a methylated derivative of pyrimidine in which a methyl group is substituted on pyrimidine ring. It is one of three isomers of methylpyrimidine that include 2-, 4- and 5-methylpyrimidine. It belongs to the class of organic compounds known as pyrimidines and pyrimidine derivatives. Pyrimidines and pyrimidine derivatives are compounds containing a pyrimidine ring, which is a six-member aromatic heterocycle which consists of two nitrogen atoms (at positions 1 and 3) and four carbon atoms. 5-Methylpyrimidine is a moderately basic compound. 5-Methylpyrimidine is formed during the combustion of cannabis ( Ref:DOI ).
