Cannabis Compound Identification
Common Name3,4-Methylpyridine
Description3,4-Dimethylpyridine also known as 3,4-lutidine, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as methylpyridines. These are organic compounds containing a pyridine ring substituted at one or more positions by a methyl group. 3,4-Dimethylpyridine is one of several dimethylated pyridines, also known as lutidines. Their chemical properties resemble those of pyridine, although the presence of the methyl groups may prohibit some of the more straightforward reactions. 3,4-Lutidine is a strong basic compound. 3,4-Dimethylpyridine is a constituent of marijuana smoke ( Ref:DOI ). 3,4-Dimethylpyridine is formed during the combustion of cannabis.
