Cannabis Compound Identification
Common NameStearoyl-CoA
DescriptionStearoyl-CoA, also known as stearyl-CoA or C18:0-CoA, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as long-chain fatty acyl coas. These are acyl CoAs where the group acylated to the coenzyme A moiety is a long aliphatic chain of 13 to 21 carbon atoms. Thus, stearoyl-CoA is considered to be a fatty ester lipid molecule. Stearoyl-CoA is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. Stearoyl-CoA is expected to be in Cannabis as all living plants are known to produce and metabolize it.
