Cannabis Compound Identification
Common Namelsobutyrophenone
DescriptionIsobutyrophenone belongs to the class of organic compounds known as alkyl-phenylketones. These are aromatic compounds containing a ketone substituted by one alkyl group, and a phenyl group. Isobutyrophenone is a colorless to pale yellow clear liquid. It is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble in water but readily soluble in organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol and ethyl acetate. It has also been detected as a volatile component of cannabis samples (PMID: 26657499 ).
