Cannabis Compound Identification
Common Name2-Methyl-Dotriacontane
Description2-Methyl-Dotriacontane belongs to the class of organic compounds known as branched alkanes. These are acyclic branched hydrocarbons having the general formula CnH2n+2. Thus, 2-Methyl-Dotriacontane is considered to be a hydrocarbon lipid molecule. 2-MethylDotriacontane is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble in water, and relatively neutral. 2-Methyl-Dotriacontane is a methylated derivative of Dotriacontane. Dotriacontane exists as a solid under natural conditions. Dotriacontane has been detected, but not quantified in, several different foods, such as coconuts, garden tomato, papaya, and tea. 2-MethylDotriacontane is one of many hydrocarbons that are found in cannabis plants (PMID: 6991645 ).
